Delaware Valley defeats Wyoming Area in varsity basketball
Milford. The game was part of the annual Milford-Matamoras Rotary Stephen E. Faller Holiday Basketball Classic, in which six high school teams from the region participated.
Delaware Valley High School defeated Wyoming Area Secondary Center in boys varsity basketball on Dec. 28.The final score was 54-43.
Delaware Valley defeated Minisink Valley, 53-52, in the opening round played on Dec. 27.
East Stroudsburg Area Senior High School North defeated Wyoming Area Secondary Center, 69-59, in the opening round.
Jackson Shafer scored a game-high 30 points for Delaware Valley. Shafer was picked the game's most valuable player (MVP). Mark Cavallaro scored 9 points. Noah Newton scored 5 points. Michael Leonardo and Lukas Schutz scored 4 points apiece. Aiden Oliver scored 2 points.
Jake Greenfield scored 13 points for Wyoming Area. Cole Coolbaugh and Sammy Solomon scored 11 points apiece. Jesse Mikoliczyk scored 8 points.
Two-day non-conference event
The game was part of the 43rd annual Milford-Matamoras Rotary Stephen E. Faller Holiday Basketball Classic, in which six high school teams from the region participated.
The two-day non-conference event, which began on Friday, Dec. 27, featured boys varsity and girls varsity basketball contests. Delaware Valley High School hosted the games.
Participating schools were Delaware Valley High School (Westfall, Pa.), East Stroudsburg Area Senior High School North (East Stroudsburg, Pa.), Minisink Valley High School (Slate Hill, N.Y.), Tunkhannock High School (Wyoming County, Pa.), Wyoming Area Secondary Center (Exeter Borough, Pa.), and Wyoming Seminary (Kingston Borough, Pa.).
