I have two game nights to report here. First up is the Delaware Valley boys’ basketball team against West Scranton. DV pounded West Scranton by a score of 62-28.
Individual scoring went like this: Tyler Lombardo scored 17 points, Trey Newton scored 13, Colin McGarvey scored eight, Logan Olsommer scored seven, Jaxon Barbilach scored five, Alex Calvalario also scored five, Sam Wood scored four, and Isiah Berrios scored three points. DV walked away with a wide margin win.
Up next was a game against Wallenpaupack, which is a very good team, despite being given a sound thrashing by DV in January with a score of 53-29. So Wallenpaupack appeared to show up at Delaware Valley this week with malice and vengeance on their minds. They gave DV a mighty run for their money and put a scare in the hearts of everyone attending.
In the first period, DV was up 18-9. It didn’t last long as the half ended with Wallenpaupack up 26-24. DV held a slim lead at the end of the third period at 46-45. Excitement filled the air and everyone was on the edge of their seats. DV managed to hold on and pulled off a 62-60 victory, thanks to fine scoring and tough defense.
Individual scoring for D.V. went like this: Trey Newton scored 16 points, Sam Wood and Isiah Berrios both had 13, Tyler Lombardo put in 10, Logan Olsommer four, and Colin McGarvey and Mike Brown both had three.
This fantastic win for Delaware Valley showed the team’s determination and grit against a super talented Wallenpaupack team. Playoffs will be coming up soon and the boys will need to show this toughness then.
