The Delaware Valley boys’ swim team won the 2024-2025 Lackawanna League championship after defeating Scranton Prep 112-53 on February 13 to finish out the season undefeated.

Led by the strength of their relay teams, DV’s Liam Fass, Thomas Zaucha, Shane Naturale, and Joseph Kessler placed first, with Joh Calabria, Dylan Sevek, Anthony Sevek, and Samuel Fisher placing second in the 200-medley relay. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of Joseph Kessler, Dean Finelli, Tyler Ingraham, and Ryan O’Connell edged out Scranton Prep’s team. Colin O’Connor, Thomas Zaucha, Dylan Sevek, and Shane Naturale took third. In the final race of the evening, the 400-yard freestyle relay, DV’s Ryan O’Connell, Dean Finelli, Liam Fass, and Tyler Ingraham captured gold. Teammates Anthony Sevek, Nate Elabdouni, Colin O’Connor, and Samuel Fisher took silver.

Scranton Prep put up great times in the individual races but could not overcome the depth of DV’s team. DV bested them in the 200 individual medley where Ryan O’Connell took first, and Samuel Fisher placed second. The 500-yard freestyle saw Tyler Ingraham placing first, Nick Colon second, and Logan Ryan third. In the 100 breaststroke, Thomas Zaucha stretched to touch the finish for the win. He was closely followed by an excellent Prep swimmer, and Dylan Sevak taking third.

DV’s swim team was to attend the Les Richards Invitational on February 15 but was prevented due to weather concerns. They will now prepare for the district championships.
