DV J.V. trounces Port Jervis in basketball
Milford. A holiday tournament, with several visiting basketball teams will be on Dec. 28.
Basketball season is in full swing, with much more to come. Just for your information, in the hopes you will attend, Delaware Valley has its holiday tournament coming up on December 28. It should be exciting, with several invited schools.
Meanwhile, we were treated to the Battle of the Border with D.V. traveling just across the river to Port Jervis on Dec. 14.
To set the table, I spoke to the Port Jervis coach prior to the game, as he was scouting D.V. to see what his boys were going to be up against. He was excited about Port’s prospects for this year, projected to be a very good team, with a good year ahead.
So here we go. The Delaware Valley J.V.s are nothing but amazing. I think that they could hold their own against most Varsity teams and even defeat several.
So far this year they have dismantled every team that they played and the P.J. JVs were no different. D.V. blasted them by a score of 65-30.
The Junior Varsity was a total blanket on defense, also rebounding at both ends of the court while scoring pretty much at will. Just some of the players that I saw have good games were Nick Jorgensen and Anthony LA Rocca making smoothe layups while Kevin Grady seemed to be all over the court.
However, the top scorers were Nick Jorgensen with 14, Jack Greening with 12, and super freshman Tyler Lombardo, scoring 16.
Between these J.V.s and the super Freshman team, D.V. is looking good for years to come. I haven’t seen the middle schools yet, but word on the street is that they are pretty darn good too. I hope to see them eventually.
