DV Varsity plays a lackluster game and loses to Wallenpaupack
Milford. Delaware Valley’s varsity players reduced a point gap toward the end of the game but lost.
Delaware Valley played Wallenpaupack at home on Jan. 6. This game looked very much like the earlier game played by the JVs. D.V. Varsity just looked like their heads were not in the game. They were not hitting their shoots and in spite of being the taller team they were not pulling down any rebounds.
Wallenpaupack actually looked like a very good team. So in games like this you can’t tell if one team is really that much better or if it is just one team having a really bad night.
The 1st period ended with D.V. down 19-10 and things were looking bleak for them.
In the 2nd period, Wallenpaupack was looking very good. They were hitting the open man, the one with the best chance to score and score they did. On the other side of the court, D.V. was not getting their shots, and when they did they couldn’t make the shots. They also continued to fail to get the rebounds. At this point, Jake Brower was the only player that made some shots. At the half, D.V was down 33-19 and turning this around seemed out of reach.
In the 3rd quarter, Wallenpaupack was making all of their shots count while even D.V.s most reliable shooters just couldn’t get it done. Somehow they managed to close the gap but still eventually lost 48-40.
D.V. just seemed to not be motivated. It’s a shame because Delaware Valley is just too good a team to have such a poor night. I think they are good enough to run the table for the rest of the regular season but only if they play up to potential. They will get Wallenpaupack again later in the season, and I hope that they turn the tables on them.
It’s up to D.V. They can be as good as they want to be if they work hard and play hard. They have enough talent to make this a great season. It’s all up to them.
