Fishing derby is free for all children

MILFORD — The Pike County Commissioners' 21st annual fishing derby for children under 16 will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 29, at the county park, off Route 6 on Schocopee Road in Milford. Stocking will take place at 7 a.m., and children are welcome to help.
Registration is free and will be held the day of the event. Only one pole per child will be permitted.
The turn for Schocopee Road is four miles west of Milford (see sign for Black Walnut Inn). After passing under I-84, take the next left turn and continue 2.5 miles. A left fork takes you to the park and the parking area on the left. Lily Pond is off to your right, and the Raptor Center is on the left below the dam.
There are five hiking trails at the park and a connector trail for a deeper hike into Delaware State Forest.
