Hanover overtaken by DV Freshmen and JV basketball teams
Milford. Anxious clumsiness afflicted both JV teams, but some deft playing won the day for DV.
Delaware Valley continues to roll along. They swept Hanover Area Freshmen, J.V.s and Varsity.
Hanover had a transportation problem and arrived a little late. The result was that the Freshman game and the J.V. game were played at the same time in different gyms. I can only report that the Freshmen won their game by the score of 52-30. Basic high school physics teaches us that matter can only occupy one volume of space at any given time. Hence I could only watch the J.V. game and can only give you the Freshman score as provided to me by the coach. Thank you, coaching staff.
The J.V. game started with Del Val smoking. Super Freshman Tyler Lombardo made steals and tips of passes that resulted in scores. Unfortunately, D.V. was a bit over anxious and made a lot of sloppy passes losing possession several times. However their usual great defense kept them from falling behind, because they just didn’t allow Hanover to score so the first period ended with D.V. up 16-8.
In the second period both teams made some really bad passes and both lost the ball several times. However, Tyler Lombardo got an early steal that he converted into points. The rest of the D.V. team was also doing the same thing. In spite of the fact that D.V. was not rebounding on the offensive boards as usual, they still closed out the half with a 32-14 lead.
In the 3rd period poor passing for both teams continued. Everyone just needed to calm down, slow down and make careful passes.
Hanover’s problem was that they just could not score.
The third period ends with D.V. up 48-16.
For all intents and purposes this game was over. D.V cleared the bench and Hanover brought in their subs too. This resulted in some wild shots being taken as these kids all wanted to get in the scoring column. You can’t blame them for trying.
Two other players that were having a great game were Anthony LA Rocca and Nick Jorgensen. They stood out in my mind in spite of the fact that all who got in the game played very well.
