Junior Varsity DV basketball season opener against Nanticoke Area
Milford. DV won, with Isaiah Berrios as the main scorer.
This was a low scoring and a very tough game. In spite of the fact there were usually less then 3 points separating the teams, somehow the game results never seemed in doubt. D.V. was going to pull this out no matter what.
The first period ended with D.V. up, 11-8.
Both teams had great difficulty scoring. Lucky for D.V. that Nanticoke had as much trouble scoring as D.V. did. Both teams made bad decisions with passing the ball and shot selection. However D.V. owned the backboard and rebounding allowed them to have multiple shots to score, while Nanticoke would only get one shot. So the second period saw D.V. up 17-14.
The third period was really the last actual competitive period. It ended 26-22 D.V. still leading.
In the 4th period several of the Nanticoke players were also going to play for the Varsity, so they went to the locker room to prepare. Then the Nanticoke coach cleared the bench, giving all his members some playing time while assuring that they had no chance to win this. The final score was 36-27, DV winning. The main scorer for DV was Isaiah Berrios. He had a smoking hot hand. I’ll give you a preview here. He played Varsity also and was just as deadly.
That was 2 games won against Nanticoke with the seniors coming up. I was very excited to see that match up.
