Local students excelled in collegiate sports this spring
Milford. Although COVID-19 cut their season short, several local student-athletes competed in collegiate sports this spring.
Emily Covert
Emily Covert (Delaware Valley High School) was a sophomore midfielder for the Arcadia University (Glenside, Pa.) women’s lacrosse team this past season. Covert started in two games and recorded a goal for Arcadia.
The Knights tallied two overall victories, both of which occurred at home. Covert, listed as a biology/pre-physical therapy major, earned a place on the Middle Atlantic Conference Honor Roll.
John Natiello
John Natiello (Delaware Valley High School) was on the roster as a junior outside hitter for the Misericordia University (Dallastown, Pa.) men’s volleyball program this year. Natiello played in 21 matches and started in one of them for Misericordia. He scored 20 points this past season.
The Cougars had an overall record of 13-9 in matches played through March 11, including a mark of 6-4 on their home court. In the Middle Atlantic Conference they posted a record of 2-2.
Stephanie O’Grady
Stephanie O’Grady (Delaware Valley High School) was a junior infielder for the Lock Haven University (Pa.) softball team this past season. O’Grady played in 11 games and started in nine of them for Lock Haven. She had three hits, including a double, scored three runs and had an RBI.
The Bald Eagles had six overall wins through March 13. O’Grady is listed as a health and physical education major.
Devyn Fahnestock
Devyn Fahnestock (Delaware Valley High School) was on the roster as a freshman pitcher for the Lock Haven University baseball program this year. Fahnestock appeared in three games and started in one of them on the mound for LHU. He had a 2.75 earned run average and struck out four batters.
The Bald Eagles posted five victories through March 9. Fahnestock is listed as a Sports Administration major.
James Peters
James Peters (Delaware Valley High School) was a junior who played defense for the Keystone College (Pa.) men’s lacrosse team this past season. Peters competed in all three games and won two ground balls for Keystone.
Peters is listed as a criminal justice major.
Christopher Vibert
Christopher Vibert (Delaware Valley High School) was a sophomore member of the DeSales University (Center Valley, Pa.) men’s tennis squad this year.
The Bulldogs posted an overall record of 5-4 through March 11, with four wins on their home courts.
