Port Jervis. Celebrate the winning team Dec. 29.

The Port Jervis School District and the City of Port Jervis will hold a parade on Sunday, December 29 to honor the Port Jervis High School football team for winning the New York State championship. The Red Raiders defeated seven-time state champion Maine Endwell 33-26 on December 7 in the JMA Dome in Syracuse.

Starting at 3 p.m. on December 29, the parade will begin in the Port Plaza at 100 Pike Street and travel through several major streets within the city, concluding at East Main Elementary School.

Parade route:

Start at Port Plaza (line-up at 2:30 p.m. in the parking lot between Walgreens and Ollie’s Bargain Outlet)

Proceed down Front Street/Jersey Avenue

Turn left onto Fowler Street

Turn right onto East Main Street

End at East Main Elementary (118 East Main Street)

Port Jervis Mayor Dominic Cicalese stated, “This team has brought our community together and we hope everyone continues to show their support and enthusiasm!” School Superintendent Dr. John Bell added, “We are thrilled to bring the community together for this joyous event. This is our sixth team to win a state title, but our first since 1985.”
