Port Jervis Raiders win Section 9 championship
Port Jervis. This makes the team’s fifth consecutive championship win.
The Port Jervis Raiders football team, led by Coach Damian Striharsky, won their fifth consecutive Section 9, Class B Championship this past week, enshrining the team in football history. On Saturday, November 11, Port Jervis beat Marlboro 37-7, securing their Class B championship win.
The Port Jervis City School District quickly took to Facebook to share the good news, “This is our first five-in-a-row championship run in our storied history. Congrats to all of the young men and women involved in the program, our coaches (past and present), cheerleaders, trainers, teachers, announcers, photographers, parents/guardians, alumni, all support staff including bus drivers, maintenance, security, and B&G, custodial staff and all those who have assisted these young men and women along the way: fed them, drove them, tutored them, guided them, held them accountable, made donations, cheered them while winning, and picked them up/supported them when losing, honked your horns and waved your flags outside your front porch and more! Thank you! This is truly a journey of #PortPride for our entire football program, coaching staff, and our community. We are proud of our Raiders!”
On Saturday, Nov. 18, the Raiders will head to Goshen High School to take on Rye in the Class B Regional quarterfinal.
