Teacher of the Year award

DINGMAN - Janice Schneck, from the Dingman Delaware Primary School was chosen as Wal-Mart’s teacher of the year for 2006. More than 4,000 outstanding teachers who are making a positive difference in the lives of young people were recognized through Wal-Mart’s 11th annual Teacher of the Year program. The recognition came during Teacher Appreciation Week, which was May 8-12, and in honor of National Teacher’s Day, Tuesday, May 9. As a result of their selection, schools of winning teachers received $1,000 each from Wal-Mart. One teacher was selected by each neighborhood Wal-Mart store. Schneck was nominated by her student Faith DeGroat, who wrote on her form “She’s the best girl in the world and my homework doesn’t feel like work because she is fun. She loves me and all the kids and I love her”. The school’s PTA offerred congratulations to Faith DeGroat, “who wrote a beautiful nomination” and Janice Schneck for being chosen as “#1 teacher.”
