The Tom Quick Inn is back & better

Three themed restaurants-something old is now something new Milford — After much speculation and anticipation, the historic Tom Quick Inn reopened its doors in July offering dining excitement and a few new ideas that Milford has yet to experience. The renovated three-story, French, Second Empire-style wood frame inn is owned by Reza Ghassemi, Baltimore native and now managing director of the inn, and his two partners, Joe Broesler of Newton, N,J., and Bill Chiles of Chicago. Over the course of recent months, crews have worked day and night to prepare the once-dilapidated building for its opening. “We are ready to offer Milford something that it has yet to experience,” said Reza Ghassemi. “With three different themed restaurants, including an Oyster bar when in season, there is something here for everyone and we are committed to making sure that each and every person that walks through our doors enjoys their experience here.” The upstairs restaurant will feature health conscious fusion cuisine, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. Executive Chef, Lyle Boylard, has directed each menu and features a little something for everyone with items on the menus ranging from fresh fruit and burgers to turkey sausage, lamb and seafood paella. As a part of the new ownership’s commitment to continuously improving not only their service, but also their menu, The Tom Quick Inn will also offer a free membership to “T.Q. Foodies.” As a member of this group, once a month, ten or twelve people will be randomly selected from the group list to come in for a free dinner, but this dinner is a working dinner. Members will be asked to taste a new dish that The Tom Quick is considering adding to their menu and give their critique on the dish - whether it needs more salt, pepper, lemon or it’s perfect, they want to know and they want to know what you think. The restaurant upstairs is not the only place to eat at the Inn. Another new addition to The Tom Quick Inn includes a sushi bar, which seats eight, and a sushi menu that can be ordered from throughout the restaurant. In specific months (months ending in “R”), there will also be an Oyster Bar where patrons can order oysters, whether they are seated at a table or sitting at the bar - bringing the dining experience at the Tom Quick Inn to a whole new level. The Club - Milford After Dark - is not a new concept to The Tom Quick Inn, but this time around, there are a few changes and the most notable change is the décor. With flat screen TVs, black lights, fluorescent carpet, bars and dance floor, it’s certainly nothing that Milford has seen before. Still located under the inn, The Club will be open 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., every day, allowing visitors to kick back and relax with wings, appetizers, drinks and ‘the game’ on one of five flat screen TVs at the sports bar, but after 9 p.m., the party starts. Dance music from the ‘80s, ‘90s and today will be spun by house and celebrity DJ’s until closing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. An added bonus to the niceties of the new club is the VIP lounge, where you can have your own private server and security. But not just anyone is getting into the hottest club in Milford; you must dress to impress to enter once the party starts. This means no: sneakers, work boots, t-shirts, jerseys, athletic wear, baseball caps, or doo-rags. You are able to wear jeans, but they need to be very neat. The Tom Quick Inn is also working with Delaware Valley Elementary School Music Teacher and Delaware Valley High School Drama Director, Kim Golden, to put together a Sunday music series for children. The ballroom has already been booked to ensure that even if it rains, the music will still go on. In addition to this music series, the management team is working to put together a quarterly dinner for parents, all-inclusive and reasonably priced, that will include child care services at the Inn while they are enjoying their meal. The one thing that has not changed is the Varsity Room in the ballroom of the Tom Quick Inn. All the college pennants and the names and dates of patrons past, still remain untouched, while the ballroom underwent a serious makeover. “There are so many things that I have changed,” stated Ghassemi. “The dining experience, the Club - but this place would not be here without the community that surrounds it. So even though the Inn has undergone mounds of transformation, there were some things that I just could not change, like the Varsity Room, and there are also things that I wanted the community to remember, like all the influential people throughout Milford’s history, which all the rooms are named after.” The rooms are still under renovation, but are anticipated to be ready for occupancy late August. They are ready. For more information, event listings or reservations, please contact the Inn at 570-409-1000 or visit them on the Web at www.thetomquickinn.com .
