A teachable moment: A response to letter regarding school director Dawn Bukaj
To the Editor:
First let me say this letter in no way disparages anyone who has been subjected to any form of racism or any shaming. I think we have really had enough of that and in particular cancelling out people for their ideas even though they may be unpopular.
I just read the article about the school director and her comments, however I read them in the paper and the writer was very vague about what this board member said so I had to go online to get some more detail. Now I don’t know whether any information was purposely left out of the paper, but it really says nothing about what the board member said or did to create the problem, but upon reading it online, it seems she gave a criticism about a recent appointee by Joe Biden, Rachel Levine as assistant health secretary, a post that should not be taken lightly.
Well Rand Paul ( a medical physician) questioned this appointee and in the exchange he brought up the fact that Rachael Levine has supported giving hormone blockers to children to prevent them from going through puberty as well as surgical destruction of a minor’s genitalia. He asked the question of Dr. Levine, “Do you think minors are capable of making such a life changing decision as changing one’s sex.” She of course dodged the question and gave an answer that said nothing about the question; again Rand Paul questioned her regarding the procedure and again she dodged the question and to be very honest most of Joe Biden’s appointees continually dodge the questions they are asked or just right out lie, but that is a problem best answered in a more lengthy post.
Anyway I must disagree with the young man who posted this and disagreement is the way we find the answers to complex questions. So the teachable moment here is to give the facts such as Rand Paul did. You can see the interaction with Rand Paul and Rachel Levine here (bit.ly/3sENFUf) and get a better idea.
I do not consider Dawn Bukaj’s words or thoughts here out of bounds because there are serious questions that need to be answered by a whole lot of folks in power. The future of the country depends on it, and myself I would prefer honesty rather than getting knife in the back.
