We want to express our thanks to the Milford Hospitality Group (MHG), and Davis R. Chant Realty, sponsors of the very first Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in Milford, Pa. In 2023, the parade began with a thought and a vision in the mind of Jenny Gagnon, one of Chant’s realtors. She approached Borough Council President Joseph Dooley, who approved the idea. They got sponsors to finance and endorse the parade. Word spread in the business community to create floats. Various non-profit groups started making plans to march with banners. Local police and firefighters pledged their help. The Knights of Columbus and the American Legion got involved. It seemed like this was an event that everyone had been waiting for. With the pledge of two marvelous pipe bands, and the addition of the historic Hiawatha horse-drawn stage coach, the plan was complete. Rev. Joseph Manarchuck, pastor of St. Patrick’s church, Milford, rode with the grand marshals. We were blessed with fine weather, and 2,000 onlookers showed up to enjoy the event. A beautiful day in the history of Milford, a scene right out of a Norman Rockwell painting.
