I’m writing in support of Christa Caceres’ campaign for Pike County commissioner.
Christa is a 20-year Lehman Township resident with an extraordinary record of community service. She’s on the board of the Greater Pike Community Foundation, Poconos United Way, Pocono Mountains Chamber of Commerce and is vice president of the Saw Creek Estates Community Association, helping to oversee an $8 million budget, 150 employees and 40+ miles of roads. She worked for Congressman Matt Cartwright for five years, helping seniors, veterans, and others navigate governmental bureaucracies. She’s been endorsed by Congressman Cartwright, as well as former Governor Ed Rendell (who considers her one of the best-prepared commissioner candidates he’s ever seen), Republican Lehman Township Board of Supervisors Chairman Rob Rohner (who welcomes her record of bi-partisanship), the Pike County Democratic Committee, Delaware Valley Action, Planned Parenthood, PA Conservation Voters, and others.
Governor Shapiro appointed her as vice chair of the Governor’s Commission on African-American Affairs and the Pike County commissioners appointed her the founding chair of the Pike County Commission on Women.
Impressive background, right? Yet, one of her opponents says she isn’t qualified to be commissioner and considers her an “entry level” candidate.
Would anyone suggest that a man with such an impressive background as Christa’s was “unqualified?”
A few months ago, when she was thinking about running, one of the incumbent commissioners told her “it wasn’t her turn.” That might have been the moment when she decided definitively to run.
Please vote for Christa Caceres for Pike County commissioner on November 7.
