My sister, on a recent visit from Louisville, KY, stood at the sink and before turning on the tap asked, “Is your water safe?” An alarming question.
Plans are in the works to construct a 17-acre trucking warehouse and parking facility on, of all places, the pristine aquifer in Milford Township. This is the water source for Milford Borough, and parts of Dingman and Milford townships. The chance of polluting that water source is high. According to the Pike County Conservation District, one quart of motor oil can contaminate a million gallons of water.
Christa Caceres will be on the November ballot running for Pike County Commissioner against the incumbent who favors the warehouse development. Christa has been a local resident and activist in Pike for years. She know what Pike County needs. She will be an unwavering advocate for the county as commissioner. But for me, and above all, she will be a fierce force to stop these plans for this trucking mega-complex. She has better ideas for sources of jobs and resources. There are no other sources for water. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.
Christa will fight for Pike. Fight to keep and improve, not lose, our quality of life.
