Over my 50+ years as a resident of Pike County I have had the pleasure of working on a variety of projects with many different organizations. I want to take just a moment of your time to tell you about the work that is being done on an important project by the Pike County Commissioners, Matt Osterberg and Ron Schmalze, bringing vital medical services to the county.
To date, Matt and Ron’s work has accomplished medical care and health-related services, including ambulance services in every municipality, free training for those wanting to become an EMT, tick-borne disease clinics, and expanded woman’s health care in Delaware Township. As I write this, they are working with Northwell Health to establish two urgent care centers in Pike County. Need I remind you that currently, when a health emergency occurs, health care services are not immediately available, and most times, many miles away.
They have created a Medical Foundation Funding Committee to bring a community hospital to the county. This is not just a dream, this will happen. I sit on the committee and see first-hand the work and time the three current commissioners are dedicating to this project. The hospital will be a valuable and necessary addition in providing adequate medical services to the county.
What we do as voters in the November election will lay the path for this hospital and other important medical services. I ask, when you cast your vote, that you think about how this current team of commissioners have plans to greatly improve health care for all of Pike County.
