Holy Trinity Food Pantry now offers help in paying for bills, prescriptions
To the Editor:
The food pantry at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Dingmans Ferry has been blessed once again this holiday season. The outpouring of support from area businesses, communities, township supervisors, organizations and individuals has helped to stock the shelves for the coming winter months.
As the needs of the community continue to grow, so does the need for support of all area food pantries. The Covid-19 pandemic has caused pantries to rethink how food is delivered to families in need.
At Holy Trinity, the pantry has set up a drive up system where families are met outside at their scheduled appointment time and food bags are placed in their vehicle. Each family receives enough food to last 7-10 days. Holy Trinity Food Pantry is grateful for the new pantry space which allows for this type of system to work.
The pantry is currently working on having a roof placed over the pick up area. This will be especially helpful when the weather is not so nice.
It is through the financial support of area foundations that the food pantry is able to provide financial assistance towards utility bills, prescription expenses, rent or mortgage payments and help for those who are homeless or near homeless. In order to receive assistance you must have an immediate need, have received a shut off notice or eviction notice. You must also reside in Pike County. Assistance can only be provided once in a 12-month period.
The Holy Trinity Food Pantry is open Tuesday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to noon. Scheduled appointments are spaced to allow for proper social distancing. Appointments must be scheduled at least 24-48 hours in advance.
The Holy Trinity Food Pantry serves all those in need living in Pike County. New clients are asked to provide a photo ID and proof of residency.
If you or someone you know are in need of the services of the pantry, you can call the director, Barbara Hupfer, at 570-828-7411.
