Bravo to Hannelore Vogler’s letter to the editor, April 7-13 issue. I wrote the news from 1983 to 2017, when I was told to retire due to my age. I wrote about crime in the Philadelphia suburbs. Believe me, there was no shortage of work.
First, Vogler is correct. Our politicians are completely useless and get paid enormous salaries to attend ribbon cuttings and shake hands with people they could care less about. They work at getting elected and then do nothing that helps the public, but put on a big show and vote for nonsense even if they don’t support the idea. Their agenda is how large will my pension be and is there a co-pay on my medical insurance? I read recently that some parent complained “The Little Mermaid” is considered racist and got the ear of a politician. Have we gone mad? What’s next? Santa Claus.
Gun control will never work in this country. The responsible gun owners are just that, responsible and use them for hunting or just shooting at the local range. If we ban firearms, only the criminals will have them. I cannot tell you how many times I knocked on the door of a family grieving after some animal with an illegal firearm killed their daughter, son or other relative. Just look at the murder rate in Chicago, Philadelphia and other large cities. No wonder law abiding citizens are moving to the Poconos. And yet, stupid Chicago voters just put another progressive in office. The nonsense will continue.
