To the Editor:
We are writing to express our gratitude to Ron Schmalzle and Matt Osterberg for all they have done, not only for Pike County, but for our family as well.
As a 27-year member of the fire service, both volunteer and career, and a former police officer, their time and dedication to first responders is unparalleled. They were instrumental in the development of the Pike County Training Center, which is used by various agencies. Our youth are benefiting from this facility as well, providing an opportunity to train and develop as members of the Wallenpaupack Protective Services CTE program. The commissioners’ support and access to resources have helped make this facility thrive. This is one of the best in the area, providing our responders with incredible training opportunities. As a first responder and resident, I am thankful for this vital facility.
As parents, we are grateful for Matt and Ron as well. Our son was interested in applying to the service academies, and we did not know where to start. These men used their experience and guided us through the starting process of how to navigate the path to a congressional nomination. They offered advice and have continued to follow up over the past year. With their leadership and guidance, we can proudly say our son received an offer of appointment and will be attending USMA at West Point.
It is the dedication of people like Matt and Ron that help give a voice to the Pike County residents.
We cannot thank these men enough for all they have done and will continue to do for our county.
