To the Editor:
I am writing to alert the Pike County community to how the Combined Energy Services (and perhaps others) is penalizing residents for conserving energy.
I was surprised to receive an invoice recently for over $220 because I had not burned 750 gallons of propane in the past year (burning “only” 584.90 gallons). In a time of national and local concern over climate change and the harmful affects of burning fossil fuels, we customers are penalized for not burning more.
I urge others to contact your gas and oil supply companies to see if you too are being penalized for being better stewards of the beauty of the natural environment in Pike County. I will definitely shop around.
