I am writing this because I am sure I am not the only person who was shocked and dismayed to receive my postal box renewal notice for 2024 that was 90% higher ($248) than I paid in 2023 ($130). I have had my postal box since 1984, 39 years. I expect some increase annually but nothing can justify a 90% increase. This is not only another unplanned expense for someone living on a fixed income, but is a totally unfair hardship. I appreciate our postal staff, who are very helpful to the community and I know they work hard. They told me the increase was set far above them in the postal system.
I have also complained to Congressman Cartwright’s office and the Office of the Inspector General of the Postal Service. I hope other folks will protest this unjust amount and a rollback is possible.
