As Election Day fever nears, I’m writing to inform business owners in the area that if they choose to make our towns and villages ugly and divisive with political signage and flags on behalf of either party, I won’t be supporting their business.
While the First Amendment guarantees freedom of speech, I would suggest to all consumers that we can stop the divisiveness right in our own backyard by discouraging business owners to go political on us. Not only is the signage tearing us apart, it’s a blight on the towns and byways in our beautiful, natural region — and it’s just plain bad business sense to alienate 50% of potential customers.
