To the Editor:
Milford has always held a special place in my heart. Years ago while driving through the Milford Borough, I thought to myself what a quaint place to live. Fast forward several years later, and here I am, so proud to call Milford my home.
It's a beautiful place to raise a family with a wonderful school district and a great place to retire and enjoy life. Milford offers many festivals and seasonal events that are enjoyed not only by its residents but by a diverse group of visitors that only adds character, charm, and makes Milford even more unique.
Now that the holiday season is upon us you can't help but notice how Milford is transformed into a winter wonderland. During an evening drive through Milford you will be treated to large lit stars, tree-lined streets lit with beautiful white lights, urns with greenery, and the new addition of the starburst atop several street lights. The participation of the businesses and residents only add to the charm of the borough.
Of course this just doesn't appear magically. There are many to thank. Upon calling Borough Hall I was told that Annette Haar was responsible for choosing the starburst decorations. I placed a call to Annette, who was so gracious and provided some information. I was informed that the Lions Club was responsible for stringing lights on Hartford and Broad streets. Roadmaster Paul Curren and his son Kevin installed the first starburst at Barckley Park. There are a total of seven of these beautiful lights. (Thank you Annette.)
The Milford Garden Club continues to be amazing with its beautification of the borough. The Milford Enhancement Committee under Maryanne Monte should be commended for all their hard work. To Mayor Sean Strub and all the officials, thank you for making Milford what it is today. A big thank you to all the volunteers who turned Milford into a "Bedford Falls" ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and, yes, it's a wonderful life in Milford, Pa.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.
Also a thank you from two of my friends, Gail Darcy and Helga Becking.
