When Steven Rosado, Director of Business Development at Milford Hospitality Group (MHG) was asked why La Posada is celebrating Cinco de Mayo for four days this year, his answer was:

“Every day is a fiesta for Mexicans,” and he followed that explanation with, “In the U.S., Cinco de Mayo is the Mexican St. Patrick’s Day —Everyone is Mexican on Cinco de Mayo.”

Miguel Gonzales, the esteemed chef at the restaurant and a member of the Rosado family, gave a more serious answer:

“This Cinco de Mayo marks three years since we have been opened. We decided to make this year, a full weekend celebration for Cinco de Mayo (May 2-5), especially since Cinco de Mayo is on Monday. It will also mark the first time that we will start opening seven days a week. We are very excited about this coming summer.”

The schedule

The celebration is open to everyone.

Festivities will begin Friday, May 2, from 7 to 10 p.m. with a cigar appreciation night. Cigar enthusiasts can enjoy outdoor drinks in a beautiful space to relax and enjoy their cigars.

On Saturday, May 3, they will have the big “Cinco de Mayo Fiesta” from noon to 7 p.m. under the big tent. This will be for the whole family.

From noon to 3 p.m., there will be face painting and pinatas for the kids. Group Warachando will be playing Salsa music from 3 to 6 p.m. There will also be indoor seating for those that want to have a sit down meal.

On Saturday, May 4, there will be a chronological Star Wars marathon for Star Wars Enthusiasts. There will be exclusive themed cocktails and entrées. They encourage people to come dressed up and receive a special prize.

As Chef Gonzales says: “May the fourth be with you.”

On Monday, May 5, from noon to 9 p.m., for the celebration of Cinco de Mayo, there will be special margaritas, and more fun food and drink offerings. Robert Kopec will provide live music from 6 to 9 p.m.

Gonzales said he expects this Cinco de Mayo celebration to be bigger than last year’s.

“We want to thank everybody who has supported us during the past three years, and we are looking forward to many, many more celebrations.”
