Shohola. Tim Sohn, a 15-year survivor of chronic leukemia is raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma. He and his team hope to raise $50,000 by May 18 and will be host a 12-hour livestreamed fundraiser.
Tim Sohn, a 15 year survivor of chronic leukemia, is raising funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as part of the nonprofit organization’s Man & Woman of the Year’s philanthropic competition. So far, Sohn and his team have raised more than $6,000, and their goal is to raise $50,000 by May 18.
In December 2021, Sohn found out that he is cancer free, and he has a fire in him now more than ever to help other cancer survivors and supporters.
“The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has provided much needed help to me and my family over the years, and I wanted to give back. The society has family support groups, does important research, provides funding for medication and treatments, education, and so much more,” said Sohn.
On March 8-9, Sohn and his volunteer team hosted a 24-hour livestreamed fundraiser called Open Your Hears & Wallets for Blood Cancers.
They’re back at it on Friday April 22, from 8 am to 8 pm with a 12-hour livestreamed fundraiser, which will include cancer survivors sharing their stories, musicians performing, and there will be a raffle that all people who donate will be entered into.
Anyone interested in watching any part of the 24 hour event, finding out information about the 12 hour event when it gets closer or making a donation online can go to donations.perspectivesoncancer.com. To make a donation by check, make it out out to LLS, and mail it to Tim Sohn, 120 Kara Lane, Shohola, PA 18458.
Sohn started sharing his cancer story in June 2021 and has since created a weekly livestreamed show called Showed Up: Perspectives On Cancer, a safe space where cancer survivors and cancer supporters come together to share their stories and connect, as well as find resources that provide healing, hope, and resilience. The show is Tuesdays at 8 pm.
