The UpFront Exhibition Space presents the latest installment of its Groove Port music series on Saturday, April 26, at 7 p.m. with a performance by the Savage Smit Quintet.
Trumpeter Rick Savage brings a unique sound and soul to jazz. Deeply rooted in the sound of Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard and Woody Shaw, Savage heard them all live many times and soaked it all in.
The Savage Smit Quintet features Rick Savage on trumpet and flugelhorn; Ian Smit on guitars and FX; Joe Vincent Tranchina on keyboard; Jay Anderson on acoustic bass; and Pete MacDonald on drums.
Tickets are $20 and will be sold at the door. The gallery opens at 12 p.m. for viewing the current art show and will be open until the concert.
