On the afternoon of May 16, fire companies from Pike County, Orange County, NY, and Sussex County, NJ, came together to fight a major residential structure fire in the area of Wild Meadow Drive and Valley Drive in Milford.

Among the responding units was Dingman Township Volunteer Fire Department, who reported arriving to find a two-story home “with fire throughout and the occupants safely evacuated.”

The fire department went on to say, “Due to the extent of fire spread, Dingman Township crews along with assistance from eight other departments utilized a defensive attack to extinguish the fire.”

There were no reported injuries and fire officials do not suspect foul play at this time. While Dingman fire units were on the scene, fire departments from Newton and Montague provided station coverage for the area. Additionally, the Westfall Fire Department, which aided in the fire suppression efforts, used its Engine 1 to fill 13 tankers over the course of almost four hours for the blaze. And while Westfall was gathering water, Sparrow Bush was on standby at their station with their pumper tanker and the Port Jervis Fire Department was on auto-dispatch with their rescue engine.
