Conservation. Pike County to receive $500K to improve recreational areas
Rep. Joseph Adams (R-Pike/Wayne) has announced that the Milford Borough and the Nature Conservancy in Shohola Township will be receiving grants from the Community Conservation Partnerships Program of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).
The Milford Borough will receive $400,000 for the rehabilitation of West Ann Memorial Park, which will go toward construction of pedestrian walkways and parking area, installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing and fencing, improved ADA accessibility, general landscaping and other related site improvements.
The Nature Conservancy will receive $195,100 toward the acquisition about 130 acres in Shohola Township for an addition to State Game Lands.
“Improved parks are a key ingredient in revitalized communities, large and small,” Adams said in the press release announcing the grants. “I’m thankful Pike County will be awarded this highly competitive funding. Further developing these locations will benefit children, parents and the entire community.”
